Meet Steve
After several years in management, Steve started his career in the financial services industry with a Fortune 500 company in 1986. After completing the CFP Professional Education Program from The College for Financial Planning in Denver, CO, he earned the designation of CFP® (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional) from the CFP Board of Standards followed by the ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. Steve is also an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) through the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils.
Steve is the founder of Barnes Wealth Management Group, a Financial Services and Wealth Management firm. He has a special interest in Estate Planning, Charitable Giving and Retirement Planning. Steve is frequently called upon by other professionals to share his expertise and knowledge. In addition, he has given seminars and taught courses in the areas of Estate Planning, Employee Benefits and Business Continuation.
Currently, Steve is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Bakersfield (President 2002), the Financial Planning Association, the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils, the Association of Accredited Estate Planners, and formally with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers (Board Member 1993 – 1996). He is also a current and former board member of several nonprofit organizations.
Steve and his wife, Lori, have two children, Timothy and Jennifer. They are members of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoy volleyball, golf, running, travel and outdoor adventures.
